James Charles Stuart, was born June 19, 1566 at Edinburg Castle in Scotland. He was not raised by his parents because of the fact that his fatherking_james.jpg was killed when he was less than a year old and his mother, Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned because of the allocations made that she was the one to kill his Father. He did not take over his role as King of Scots untill he was 13 years old, According to his Workes of 1616. (a collection of the king's writings). ("King James I" 1996) In the year or 1589 he married Anne of Denmark and she became the Queen. He also enharited the thrown of England when Queen Elizabeth I, passed away on March 24, 1603. ("James I of," 2010)

Before the reign of James in England, as Queen Elizabeth's time was running short, a draft for an act of Parliament for a new version and translation of the Bible was found. During Elizabeths time here nothing ever became of this draft, but one of the first things King James I did was call upon Hampton Court Conference in January or 1604. It was resolved "That a translation be made of the whole Bible, as consonant as can be to the original Hebrew and Greek; and this to be set out and printed, without any marginal notes, and only to be used in all churches of England in time of divine service." (Vance,1995) Next, King James I has to select the men that would actually translate the Bible in to English. He selected 47 men to complete this task. The New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew, and the Apocrypha was translated from Greek and Latin.

In 1611 was the publication of the Authorised King James Bible. It was the " bestselling and arguably the most influential book in the world."("The Elizabethan age ," 2010) The King James Bible was printed by Robert Barker, he was King James I&VI's printer. ("James I of," 2010) The public was excited because of their demand for a English translation of the bible that they were alowed to read. King James risked his life when he ordered these men to translate the Bible in to English for it to be given to the public, because of the threat it held on the power of the monarchs and the power of the Catholic Church.

The Original King James Bible consists of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Apocrypha, for a total of 88 books.

When, in 1611 it was finaly issued the complete title page reads:
THE HOLY BIBLE, Conteyning the Old Testament, and the New: Newly Translated out of the Originall tongues: & with the former Translations diligently compared and revised, by his Majesties Special Commandment. Appointed to be read in Churches. Imprinted at London by Robert Barker, Printer to the Kings most Excellent Majestie. ANNO DOM. 1611." (DR. Samworth, 2002)
The King James Bible in its first printings was even larger than the Great Bible, printed in black letters. The small italicized Roman type of font represented the words not from its original language. It weight over 30 pounds and when opened it spead almost 30 inches. ("1611 king james," 1997) This Bible was a beautiful book not only by what it the word in side of it said, but by the detail in the art and design of the book.
